Electronic resources

This section of the web site lists access points to electronic resources such as databases and e-journals. Other web sites and information resources are on our "Useful Links" page. All links to other web sites will open in a new Internet browser.

NHS staff can apply for an Athens ID via the "Journals and Databases" page on the NHS Evidence website at www.evidence.nhs.uk/

Databases

For NHS staff

Use the "Healthcare Databases Advanced Search" option on the NHS Evidence "Journals and databases" page
www.evidence.nhs.uk/nhs-evidence-content/journals-and-databases (Athens password required)

You can search in several databases at once, or singly for additional features.

For University of York staff and students

http://metalib0.york.ac.uk/ (Password required)

The Cochrane Library

Database of reviews of Clinical Effectiveness; password not required in England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and some other countries.

PubMed

Medical literature database; password not required. NHS and University members are strongly advised to use the NHS Evidence or University versions of the databases, as additional features are available.



Links to Electronic Journals (and ebooks)

Electronic full text journals are available through the NHS Core Content, and to members of institutions (such as University staff and students), with the relevant username and password.


Yorkshire and Humber SHA e-books collection

The Strategic Health Authority subscribes to a collection of e-books, which can be accessed with an NHS Athens password from institutions in Yorkshire and Humber via the MyAthens page at http://www.athensams.net/ (opens in a new window).
